Wilhelm Eckhardt Potgieter was born outside Johannesburg South Africa in 1990. After spending his early life there he moved with his family to the United States in 1997, settling in the Twin Cities.

Wil showed an early interest in art. Countless pages were filled with drawings of dinosaurs, dragons, and knights. He got his highschool deploma at Henry Sibley high school. Wil immedtiatly dived into courses at The College of Visual Arts in St. Paul, Minnesota.

While still unsure of what to persue as a career Wilhelm discovered artists like James Gurney, Da Vinci, Carvaggio, Frank Frazetta, Boris Vallejo and Marko Djurdjevic. These among many others influenced Wil to persue a career in Concept Art and Illustration.
